Claudio Cesario named new CEO of UniCredit Bank Serbia

After receiving the approval of National Bank of Serbia, Claudio Cesario was appointed as the Chairman of the Management Board of UniCredit Bank Serbia JSC and the new Chief Executive Officer of the Bank. He assumed the CEO function from Klaus Priverschek who led the Bank in Serbia from December 2007. Klaus Priverschek will take over a new important role within the Group.
In relation to the appointment of Claudio Cesario, Gianni Franco Papa - Head of the CEE Division at UniCredit - stated:
- UniCredit Bank Serbia has coped with the global financial crisis. As economic recovery is progressing slowly, I am happy to leave the steering wheel to an experienced manager like Claudio. I am confident that he will continue along the path of success, which the bank has pursued under the auspices of Klaus Priverschek, whom I would like to thank for his achievements.
Claudio has matured a solid professional experience in several banks within UniCredit. He started his career in 1985 in Banco di Sicilia, covering various business positions across the Bank until he became the Head of Commercial Strategies and Development of Network & Direct Channels, in 1999. In this position he managed network integration of the major competitor bank purchased in 1998, dealing also with branch optimization and maintaining relations with Italian Antitrust Authority. In 2004, he moved to Banca di Roma, initially as Head of Planning and Budget to take over later on, in 2006, the role of Head of Planning and Control, reporting directly to CEO, in charge of Risk Management, Finance and Internal Rating Agency. Since November 2008, Claudio held a position of Head of CEE Banks Strategy, Planning and Controlling, responsible for 15 Banks in Central and Eastern Europe in UniCredit.
Claudio holds a degree in Business Economics and he is a graduate of the Accelerated Development Programme of London Business School. He is also a Certified Public Accountant in Italy.
