To the end of providing support to institutions and health workers in Serbia in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the member-companies of the German Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbia) have donated aid amounting to EUR 1,087,000 in the past weeks.
The help takes the form of concrete medical equipment and financial funds for its procurement, donated goods and food and hygiene packages, but also of making the companies' services available to humanitarian purposes (such as transport and distribution), AHK Serbia announced.
The president of AHK Serbia and the CEO of Hemofarm, Ronald Seeliger, emphasized that Germany remained a reliable partner to Serbia and that the activities of German investors would continue contributing to the economic sustainability of Serbia in the difficult times.
– German investors have been present in Serbia for a full two decades, and there are close to 400 German companies operating here with more than 60,000 employees at the moment. That is a clear indicator that Germany is one of the most important and reliable economic partners of Serbia and that it will remain being one in the future. Even in these challenging times, when the whole world and the global economy are already affected by the pandemic, it is very important for us to remain human and for each of us to help institutions and health workers, however much we can, in fighting coronavirus. The companies' donations are our way of showing that Germany is not just an important economic partner to Serbia, but a friend above all – Seeliger emphasized.
