A six-member medical team from Italy, consisting of two anesthesiologists, an emergency doctor, a specialist for infectious diseases, a surgeon and a medical technician, arrived to the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport by a special flight on August 2.
As the Embassy of Italy in Belgrade announced, the medical team, which operated under coordination from the Italian Civil Protection, consists of people coming from different regions of Italy: Piedmont, Lazio, Apulia and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
As said, the team is supposed to provide help and training based on the experience acquired during the five-month struggle against COVID-19 that Italy went through.
– The exchange of opinions and the best practices with doctors and medical staff in Serbia will help fight the virus – the embassy says on its website.
It is added that, with this initiative, “Italy wants to once again point to the importance of friendship with Serbia, the remarkably high level of bilateral cooperation, and to respond to the generous help provided by Serbia to the Italian people this April”.
