Delhaize opens Stara Pazova-based distribution center - Investment totals EUR 50 m
(Delhaize distribution center) Delhaize Srbija has opened today in Stara Pazova a distribution center where EUR 50 m were poured and where 400 people will be hired by the end of the year..
The construction started in April 2013 and by 2020 they are planning to hire 750 people.
The Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, attended the opening and outlined he expects future that in the Delhaize will generate even better results and that the share of Serbian products in the chain offer to increase from current 70 to 75 do 80%.
- This is an important investment of EUR 50 m and important day for Serbia. We are trying to welcome you although the Government did almost nothing except from not bothering you - Vucic said.
He outlined he is satisfied with the fact Delhaize will pour more funds in Serbia and open new vacancies.
The center expands on 70.000 m2 with an extension option to125.000 m2.
The facility is connected with three key directions - Corridor 10, highway E75 and a bypass around Belgrade. Some 250 trucks per day will be able to move from this facility and they will have 120 loading and unloading positions at their disposal.
President of Belgium Delhaize Group, Franc Miler said new distribution system will provide greater safety and product quality for end consumer.
GM at Delhaize Srbija, John Kiricis, said the opening of the distribution center is of key importance for the trade and FMCG industry for entire Serbia.
