New mall at Banovo Brdo soon – Carvel completing reconstruction of Betex building

The reconstruction of the former Betex department store at Banovo Brdo is in the final stage and will be turned into a large, modern shopping mall.

After more than a decade of being closed, the building will again provide a new place for the people of the Belgrade municipality of Cukarica to shop.

The renovation of the existing object began in December 2015, and, according to unofficial information by the Market Network website, the grand opening should take place in September, although it was initially announced for May 2016.

The investor and owner of the building is clothes and sports equipment store chain Carvel. This company has bought the Betex building from Adikko Bank (formerly Hypo Alpe Adria Bank).

The contractor is Projmetal, and the area of 4,337 m2, which contains of two underground levels, a ground level and two stories, will be fully rearranged and turned into world-famous brand stores.

In addition to the building, the investor will, in cooperation with the municipality of Cukarica and PUE Zelenilo, arrange the square in front of the mall, where a musical fountain and a grand clock will be placed.

Carvel was founded in 1991 and is an official distributor of Ipanema, Diadora, Calvin Klein and other brands, and it has fifteen stores in the Balkans area.
