(Illustration) MPC Group is buying the Mercator Belgrade shopping center, Blic reports.

The Commission for Protection of Competition confirmed for the Belgrade daily that they had approved the said concentration in “the market of management – leasing and handling retail space”.

Mercator Belgrade is one of the first shopping centers in Belgrade. It takes up around 22,000 square meters and features nearly 70 outlets. It opened in 2002 and was reconstructed in 2012.

MPC Group, owned by Petar Matic, is known for construction and management of real estate. Among others, they run the Usce Shopping Center, the Immo Outlet Center, commercial premises they lease in downtown Belgrade (H&M, the residential facility Oaza) and several other shopping centers in Serbia.

The company was not able to either confirm or refute this piece of information for eKapija. As they said, the group's position is “not to make business decisions public”.
