Tender for construction of 276 apartments for refugees in Veternik opens – Project worth EUR 6.76 million
As announced last year, the construction of 276 apartments for refugees in the Novi Sad neighborhood of Veternik should begin this spring, and the recently opened tender for the contractors moves the project a step closer to realization.
The construction of social housing facilities for multiple families, as stated in the tender documentation, envisages the raising of two residential buildings with 50 housing units each, with a total gross area of 3,536.90 m2 and 3,550.70 m2, as well as a four-unit residential building with 176 housing units, with a total gross area of 12,789.70 m2.
The procurement has been estimated at slightly over EUR 6.76 million.
The offer submission deadline is March 26, whereas the decision on the awarding of the contract will be reached in May.
Let us remind that, as announced by the city administration of Novi Sad last year, the City has secured locations for the purpose of housing refugees in which 276 housing units will be built in Veternik and 152 in Futog, using funds provided by donors and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and through the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and the Project Management Unit, as well as the Regional Housing Program.
The mayor announced at the time that all the processes had been completed and that he expected the works to start in early 2018.
The construction of apartments in Veternik is a sub-project of the Regional Housing Program, which is being carried out in 27 local self-government units simultaneously. In envisages the construction of a total of 1,267 apartments.
The Regional Housing Program is a longstanding joint program of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia. The aim is to provide permanent housing for the 27,000 most vulnerable refugee families, that is, around 74,000 people in the region. Of these, 16,780 families, or around 45,000, are in Serbia.
With the construction of 276 housing units in Veternik and 152 housing units in Futog through the Regional Housing Program, the City of Novi Sad will become the carrier of one of the biggest refugee housing projects in the region, the local self-government announced in late 2017.
