Pirot to get 10,000 square meters of residential-office space – Construction of Zapadni Kej complex worth around EUR 5 million begins

(Illustration) The construction of the residential-office complex Zapadni Kej (Western Wharf) began yesterday in Pirot with the laying down of the foundation stone next to the Gazela bridge and the Kej promenade by the river Nisava.

The construction site was officially opened by Mayor Vladan Vasic and investor Boban Mijalkovic, and the contractor is the Novi Sad-based company Raz.

The investor, owner of the company Densi d.o.o. from Pirot, Boban Mijalkovic, says that the location next to Kej and the Nisava inspired them to start this kind of project, which will last for the next five years.

– In that period, four buildings with 10,000 square meters of residential space and around 120 housing units will be built in this location. The value of the works in the first phase is slightly over a million euros and around EUR 5 million by the end of the investment. In addition to residential space, there will also be office space. One of the buildings will feature a kindergarten, whereas the ground floor of another will feature a fitness center – Mijalkovic said and added that the price per square meter will be around EUR 800.

Mayor Vasic emphasizes that the expansion of the city downstream from the Gazela bridge is a very good thing and that the city supports any kind of initiative in that direction.

– We want to repair the infrastructure here. Works have already begun on a branch of the Vojvode Misica Street and we are preparing the project documentation for Kej downstream from Gazela. The location for the construction of a Lidl store is also being prepared here – Vasic pointed out.
