"Mr. Bricolage" opened its first retail facility in Serbia worth 9m EUR
The first facility from French "do-it-yourself" hypermarket chain "Mr. Bricolage" in Serbia, worth 9m EUR, was opened today (December 8, 2009) in Medijana Boulevard in Niš.
Modern retail center at 5,800 square meters is built at the surface of 2 ha, and its offer includes over 30,000 products for home and garden. Construction of the facility was finished as planned, and 75 people from Niš and its surroundings got jobs in that trade center.
- So far, we have 30% of suppliers from Serbia in this hypermarket, and we plan to broaden cooperation with Serbian companies, some of which will only be distributors, while some others will be producing "Mr. Bricolage" brands – Milen Hristov, the Director General of "Brico Spec", told "eKapija" and added that Serbian companies must meet strict criteria and that all the interested companies can already apply for the cooperation.
Hristov pointed out that the adaptation of the space in Novi Sad was close to end, while the trade center in that city should be opened in May 2010.
In addition to the current location in Niš, company "Mr. Bricolage" has also bought the land next to the hypermarket where it plans to have a large logistics-distribution center built for the needs of supply of goods to "Mr. Bricolage" trade centers in Macedonia and Serbia.
"Mr. Bricolage" intends to open 4 to 5 trade centers in Serbia within the next few years.
The opening ceremony in Niš was attended by French Ambassador Jean Francois Terral, Bulgarian Ambassador Georgi Dimitrov, the Mayor of Niš, Miloš Simonović, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Vesna Arsić, and the representatives of "Mr.Bricolage" - Bruno Cantoni, Milen Hristov and Andrei Evtimov.
