Delta Holding Submits Offer for Purchase of Sava Center – Investment of EUR 60 Million in Renovation Planned
Delta Holding today submitted an offer for the purchase of Sava Centar at the public tender opened by the City of Belgrade, the company announced. The press release adds that, with this offer, Delta confirms its readiness to accept the price of EUR 17.5 million and mandatory investments of EUR 50 million, which are one of the terms of the public contest. According to the estimate of the foreign consultants that Delta hired, the investment in the renovation of Sava Centar will exceed EUR 60 million.
– The price set by the City of Belgrade in the tender is very high and we believe that there have been no bids, except for ours, throughout the whole sales process for that reason precisely – says Zivorad Vasic, Senior Vice President of Delta Holding.
– We believe that very few companies can afford that kind of investment and that Delta is one of them: thanks to the great experience with similar projects, the company's strength and the ability to make this investment profitable through the synergy of hotel and congress capacities.
If it gets an opportunity to do so at the tender, Delta plans to fully renovate the biggest congress center in the country. The investment entails the replacement of the glass facade, new electrical installations, as well as a heating and cooling facility and the implementation of entirely new multimedia installations.
As a potential investor, Delta obliges to maintain the facility's architectural features and its exterior, as well as to keep its present purpose.
– We are ready to maintain its exterior and it purpose and to create a new Sava Centar on the inside through this reconstruction. It will entail modern digital communications, restaurants and cafes, rent-a-car agencies and tourist guide services, that is, everything that a guest can expect to get in a modern congress center. That is the condition for Belgrade to once again become the most important destination for business and cultural events in the region, with gatherings of over 5,000 guests and all the benefits that such events bring to Belgrade, its economy and its citizens – says Zivorad Vasic.
