Ten companies compete for Stepa - Who are potential contractors for construction of apartments in Vozdovac?

The Building Directorate of Serbia has invited ten domestic companies, which are all registered with the Central Registry of Bidders, to bid on the tender for the construction of the first 400 apartments in the location of former 4. juli barracks in Vozdovac borough. By the end of this month, the Directorate will select three best bids, based on the criterion of the lowest price, and those companies will be entrusted with the works. The commencement of works on the construction of apartments in Stepa Stepanovic housing project is scheduled for October 30, while the deadline for their completion is March 31, 2012.

Total of seven Belgrade-based companies and three companies from the provinces of Serbia will be competing for this job. These are: Ratko Mitrovic-Dedinje, Deneza M inzenjering, Monterra, Gemax, Komgrap, Granit invest, and Graditelj - inzenjering from Belgrade, Sabac-based Inter-kop, Bankovic from Crna Trava, and GP Kovacevic from Novi Sad. Based on the Regulation on the criteria for selection of bidders, all these companies meet the requirements to participate in the implementation of projects, prescribed by the Law on incentives for Serbian building industry in the conditions of the economic crisis.

- It is not in our interest to have 4,578 apartments built by one, two or three companies, but by as many building companies as possible so the number of employed workers could be as big as possible - Dragan Grujic, the Director of the Building Directorate of Serbia, told daily paper Novosti.

- For the next phase of works, which will commence 15 days after the opening of the first building site, we will also invite some new companies that meet the requirements stipulated by the Regulation and the Law. But the company that gets the job will not be able to hire subcontractors to carry out the works. That will not be tolerated. By the way, the three companies that will start building first 400 apartments by the end of this month will not be invited to bid on the tender for the next phase of this residential development.
