Tikvara, the future kayak center - Backa Palanka to see construction of regatta complex and marine

The Tikvara Lake is surrounded bybeautiful nature, with a view over the Fruska gora slopes and medieval fortress on the one side and over wood lying on the thermal water resources on the other. The most important people of the Kayak Association of Serbia have considered the potential of lake situated between Backa Planka in the north and the Danube in the south. Therefore, the local CUP of Serbia in kayak and canoe riding takes place here. There is also an initiative to build the regatta center at the Tikavara Lake.

The Regatta Center should be the base for preparation of the kayak and rowing Serbian representation. It was elected the project pf the national interest by the Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Serbian Kayak Association but this is where it all ends.

- Spatial and General Plan includes construction of marine and a traveling landing place. The Plan of Detailed Regulation is being developed for this part of the town which is, in tourist sense, the most interesting, i.e.coastal area. Apart from marina, construction of the regatta center for kayakand canoe has been planned. There are conditions for the kayak center but it is necessary to deepen the path for two kilometers when it comes to canoe center. Serbia does not have a real regatta center with all conditions. Ada Ciganlija used to host state championships. – Ljudmila Jamusakov from the Directorate for Backa Palanka Municipality Construction said in an interview for eKapija.

Our interlocutor says that apart from developing plan documentation, it is essential to solve property-ownership rights with Srbijasume and Srbijavode in order to implement the project.

With its natural features, the lake offers great conditions for sports activities as well as for competitions. Perhaps the main reason for opening the regatta center here is the Sintelon kayak club success. Backa Palanka-based kayak school has been producing world champions for a long time.

According to previous ideas, kayak-canoe club with supplementary facilities, i.e. camp, pontoon installation tribune with a café and a marine atthe Danube, should be built.

Propriety should be the kayak club facility and supplementary facilities such as inspection path, tower for competition monitoring and auxiliary competition hangars.

Sports facilities nearby

In the vicinityof the lake, there is a sports hall as well as outdoor sports fields (tennis,football and futsall, basketball, volleyball, athletic trim,handball). Thevicinity to the Croatian border, split only by a bridge, makes the location moreattractive. One cannot imagine the International Danube Regatta without campingat the Tikvara Lake.

- Coastal zone occupies large area where the hall is now and where swimming pools are being built. International cycling route passes though this part. That space is protected because the Tikavara Park is natural park and a special construction regime is planned. Construction of a hotel is planned inthe coastal area since municipality at the moment cannot offer adequate accommodation tourist capacities – Ljudmila Jamusakov mentioned.
