Smart gyms producing energy – Winners of “I Have a Solution For a Smarter City” contest pronounced
(Toni Richard Crisolli and Nikola Nedeljkovic with the winners) The winner of the “I Have a Solution For a Smarter City” contest, organized by Belgrade Waterfront, is Energym Group with its Energym project of a smart outdoor or indoor gym. Modified gym devices produce energy, which can then be distributed freely. The team won the award of EUR 5,000.
The second prize went to Smart Light for its EcoLight project, a smart system of street lighting, which regulates lights using special sensors, thereby saving energy in the entire city. The third place belongs to Smart Solutions and their Smart Waste Monitoring System. This project develops the idea of smart waste containers which monitor the amount of waste and other relevant data in order to help utility enterprises optimize truck routes and notify them in case a container is set on fire. The two teams were awarded EUR 3,000 and EUR 2,000 respectively.
The partner of the project was ICT Hub, whereas the media partner was Netokracija. The closing ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at the BW Sales Center.
During the application period, which lasted one month, 172 individuals and teams applied. The ten finalists presented their ideas to the jury at the final event.
– The jury had a difficult job indeed. We saw a lot of motivated people with a strong desire to improve their environment and we see this as a very good sign for the local startup community and the whole country – pointed out Toni Richard Crisolli, the president of the jury and a co-founder of Smart City Education Initiative (SCEI).
Belgrade Waterfront also provided an additional amount of EUR 25,000 for the further development or implementation of the best projects, in order to incite the best teams to keep developing and implementing their ideas.
