Hungarians to build "European Dubai" in Montenegro?
Hungarian company "Trigranit" plans to invest few billion euros in the construction of tourist facilities near Ulcinj.
The proof that the foreign investors find even intact locations at Montenegrin seaside attractive is the fact that Hungarian company "Trigranit" has already elaborated preliminary project for Velika Plaža (Large Beach) near Ulcinj.
The idea of this company is that the complex on Velika Plaža be European answer to Dubai, which is famous all over the world by its modern buildings and attractiveness of tourist and hotel facilities.
According to the project of company "Trigranit", which implies both high-rise building and civil engineering, depending on what Montenegrin authorities will set as a condition on the tender, the plan is that the hotel-tourist complex be built with the contents that only up-to-date world centers have - hotels, suites, restaurants, bars, swimming pools, aqua park, golf, tennis and football courts, theater, casino, green areas, various kinds of wellness... Hungarian company, of which owners are Szandor Čanji, Peter Mank, Nataniel Rotschild and Szandor Demian, anticipated construction of hotel "Twin Towers" on Velika Plaža. There is also idea of construction of the new by-channel of the Bojana, which would pass through the new complex and flow into the sea.
However, in order for "Trigranit" to realize its plans, it will have to participate and won on the tender for Velika Plaža, which will be announced within next few months. The main condition on the tender will be partnership with the State. The investor would provide project and funds for construction, whereas the State would allot land and they would share the management and ownership.
"Trigranit", however, is not the only company interested in Velika Plaža. Arabian investors, of which representatives have recently visited Podgorica, said to the hosts that they were ready for large investments in the complex near Ulcinj. The Arabians, members of the royal family in the Emirates, are, at this moment, preferred by the influential circles in Montenegro.
Velika Plaža, which will be the subject of the competition between the investors, is settled between Ulcinj and Ada Bojana island. It is 13 km long. The location has surface of about 1,950 ha, around 1,400 ha of which are owned by the State, while the rest belongs to the private landowners.
Velika Plaža, due to its size and nearby hinterland, which has not been exploited yet, except for some private houses, can be considered the most important potential for development of tourism in Montenegro.
