Commission for Protection of Competition to make decision about “Petroleum Industry of Serbia” today
- The Commission for Protection of Competition will make the decision today (January 16, 2009) about the activities concerning the sale of Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) to Russian “Gazpromneft“ - said Dijana Marković-Bajalović, the President of the Commission.
- The sale of NIS was specific because the base for the sales contract was the interstate agreement and, therefore, the Commission should decide how to act when it comes to “Gazpromneft’s“ request for consent for takeover of Serbian oil company - said Marković-Bajalović for Beta.
She added that the Commission had maximum 130 days to give consent.
The contract on sale of 51% of capital of NIS to “Gazpromneft“, a daugther company of Russian Gazprom, at the price of 400m EUR, was signed on December 24, 2008, in Moscow.
The Government of Serbia announced that "Gazpromneft" would pay the purchase price within five days from the moment the Commission for Protection of Competition gave its consent and the company from Russia submitted the guarantee that it would meet 550m EUR worth of investment obligations.
