Swedish company plans large investments in Serbia - "Ikea" seeks location in Belgrade
- Swedish company “Ikea“ has long-term plans concerning investments in Serbia, and it intensively seeks location that satisfies all criteria for construction of a trade center in Belgrade - said Anders Dahlvig, the President and the Executive Director of "Ikea Group".
According to his words, that Swedish company had also taken other possibilities in Serbia in consideration.
- Serbia represents strategic market for our expansion in the region of southeast Europe, and our team is engaged in the dialogue with the Government of Serbia and other officials in order to make the investment attainable – said Dahlvig during his visit to Croatia.
- In spite of the economic crisis, "Ikea" sees the investment in Serbia as an employment opportunity, and our plan is to offer jobs and professional development to over 2,000 people in Serbia – Dahlvig pointed out.
Dahlvig attended the meeting dedicated to expansion of company "Ikea" in Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. On that occasion, he pointed out to good business results achieved by that company in 2008.
On the occasion of visit to Croatia, Dahlvig and Dragan Skalušević, the Regional Manager of company "Ikea" for Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, visited the site in the municipality of Rugvica where "Ikea" would have the first department store and trade center built.
The representatives of the Government of Serbia said last year that "Ikea" negotiated with Serbia about investment of 1.1 billion EUR in construction of a factory in our country.
