Lidl Srbija and Agro Djole DOO Jagodina on Achieving a Mutual Goal

– Through a carefully selected range of products in Lidl stores and our loyalty to our suppliers, we directly influence the high quality offer at the most favorable prices for consumers throughout Serbia. In order to learn everything about the way our products are produced and about their origin, it is very important for us at Lidl to know our business partners well and to have a mutually satisfactory relationship with them – said Nikola Balaban, Supply Executive at Lidl Srbija.
Aside from successful business relations, it is also very important to establish trust in long-term partners. More about the cooperation with Lidl Srbija is revealed by Petar Djokic, the director of Agro Djole, a prominent egg producer in the local market:
– Regarding the cooperation with Lidl so far, I'd like to highlight the security, in the sense of the certain sale of the quantities and the independence from the changes in the market, as well as honoring the payment deadlines, open communication and constant support in achieving the mutual goal since the very beginning of cooperation.
As a successful food brand in our market, Agro Djole is currently in the process of implementation of the European IFS certificate of quality. Meeting all the standards that the acknowledgment entails is not an easy task at all and it requires large investments, but primarily enthusiasm and the belief that a satisfied customer is the only success parameter.
– With the help of Lidl and in line with the company's standards, we have implemented the most modern equipment and expanded our production capacities by over 200,000 chickens within the system. From next year, we will upgrade our offer of organic and free-range eggs and become the first egg producer in Serbia that meets all the European standards and has a farm with the largest green area – Djokic announced.
The vision is shared by Lidl, which has dedicated itself to mutual efforts toward establishing top standards in the production of Agro Djole eggs since it arrived to Serbia. The result is reflected in the considerable increase of the production capacities and an upgraded quality of these eggs, apparent with every bite.
Said successful cooperation also has an impact on changes in our market. Although this may come as a surprise to many, the latest European recommendations, also covered by the rulebook on egg quality of the Republic of Serbia, say that eggs should not be stored in a fridge after all, which is a position that is supported by Lidl Srbija and Agro Djole.
– When you're buying eggs at a market, they're certainly not stored in a fridge, but in a basket, most commonly. By exposing an egg from the fridge to the room temperature, it suffers a temperature shock that leads to condensation on the shell and can lead to the development of microorganisms – Djokic explains.
The dedication of Agro Djole to high-quality production is shown by the process itself.
– Our workers manually sort and prepare boxes with 10 or 30 eggs for transport to Lidl stores, and throughout the distribution process the temperature that the eggs are exposed to is kept between 5 and 25 degrees Celsius. The consumers should store eggs under such conditions as well – he adds.
Now you know everything about buying and storing eggs, which can now be found in Lidl stores outside the refrigerators, closer to the shelves with flour and sugar.
