Momirovic: We Will Connect Prokop with Subway

We are trying to determine how our French partners managed to connect their railway station with the city subway, and that is certainly one of the challenges that we have to solve on this challenging project, stated the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Tomislav Momirovic, following a visit to the Lyon Metro Line B, and then also a visit to the construction of the project which aims to efficiently connect the railway station and the subway line, also in Lyon.

– The Belgrade Subway will not be fully completed unless we connect our central railway station Prokop with the subway. We will do so, we are determined to do so – said Momirovic, as announced on the website of the ministry.

The Lyon subway system, which is very similar to the future Belgrade subway in structure and size, is 32 kilometers long and has four lines. The Belgrade subway will return up to 20% of the energy to the system, which is extremely important for saving energy and money, and this will further help solve the problem of ecology a healthy environment in the capital of Serbia. The first line will have 28 trains with three cars each, which will transport 435 people.

Following the tour of the works on the Lyon Metro Line B, the delegation of the relevant ministry held several meetings concerning the Belgrade Subway and also discussed further cooperation with the French partners, it is added.

– A subway is always a key investment for economic development and I express full dedication to the success of the Belgrade Subway project with 2028 as the final deadline – said Olivier Bouvart, Executive Director Rail at Egis Rail, which is hired for the construction of the Belgrade Subway.
