The company Serbian Railways Infrastructure has opened the public procurement procedure for the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of two new tracks from Belgrade Center (Prokop) to Batajnica, for phase 1 – the section from Prokop to Zemun Polje. This is the documentation for the construction of an additional two tracks (one each on the left and right hand sides of the railroad) for a projected speed of up to 160 kilometers an hour.

The tendering documentation seeks the preparation of a preliminary design, a preliminary project, a feasibility study and an environmental impact assessment study.

– Before the beginning of the preparation of the preliminary project for said procurement procedure, the provider of the service should prepare a preliminary design, based on which the location requirements for phase-based construction will be obtained and which will be submitted for approval to the procuring party – the documentation says.

It is reminded that, in the past period, the state and Serbian Railways Infrastructure have realized the project of the reconstruction, modernization and construction of the two-track railroad Belgrade-Novi Sad-Subotica-Hungarian border (Kelebija) on the section from Belgrade Center to Novi Sad.

– Keeping in mind that long-distance international passenger traffic, internal long-distance traffic, internal regional traffic and city-suburban traffic, as well as the traffic of empty trains in the conditions of the functioning of the technical-passenger station in Zemun, are conducted on the railroad section Belgrade Center – Zemun Polje, the need has arisen for separating the types of train transport by building another two tracks on this section, whereby this section would have four tracks – the documentation clarifies.

As the basis for the implementation of technical solutions, as pointed out, the documentation which concerns the modernization of the railroad on the Prokop – Stara Pazova (exit) section should be used.

Among other things, the documentation points out that, for the existing bridge on the two-track railroad (the New Rail Bridge, or “Hajdin’s Bridge”), a study of the current condition should be prepared, the checking of the static and dynamic load should be carried out, and based on the results of the analysis, a proposition of the measures of repair and expansion of the existing bridge by two new tracks should be given.

– At the New Belgrade Station, the expansion of the bridge structure on which the station is located should be envisaged, so as to add another station track on the left hand side of the railroad. A study of the current condition of the bridge structure on which the tracks of the New Belgrade station are located, with a proposition of the measures of repair, should be prepared. In preparing the design, this project should be harmonized with the project of the new station building New Belgrade, which is planned to be built on the right hand side of the railroad, so as to make for a functional whole together. In the official spots, the construction of new railroad switches should be planned due to the construction of the two new tracks – the documentation points out and adds that the Senjak tunnel has a free profile for the construction of two new tracks, but that it needs to be checked whether it is necessary to do additional works for making the tunnel functional.

– For the Bezanijska Kosa tunnel, a technical solution for the construction of two new tunnel tubes should be provided so that said works do not jeopardize the stability of the surrounding terrain, all in line with the TSI standards – the documentation says.

The final deadline for the completion of the job is 36 months from the date of the signing of the agreement.

The deadline for the submission of bids is January 29.
