Autodesk acquires Novi Sad-based startup Wonder Dynamics

Autodesk, a leader in the development of 3D tools, has acquired the Novi Sad-based Wonder Dynamics, a startup which enables to creators to quickly and easily create complex characters and visual effects using AI-based image analysis.

This Novi Sad-American startup was founded in 2016 by the VFX artist Nikola Todorovic and the actor Tye Sheridan. Both founders will join the Autodesk team, whereas the other details of the acquisition are not yet known.

Before the acquisition, Wonder Dynamics collected a total of USD 12.5 million in investments, in two rounds.

As TechCrunch describes, Wonder Dynamics basically made adding motion-captured CG characters to footage as simple as dragging an icon onto an actor. The partnership with Autodesk and the integration with their tool Maya, one of the most advanced tools for 3D projects and media production, was the logical next step, according to the co-founder of Wonder Dynamics Nikola Todorovic.
